Comment by the head coach of BC “Prometey” Ronen Ginzburg after the victory over BC “Joventut”.

-The first half we played as we wanted. Made some mistakes in defense. In the second half we created problem ourselves. “Joventut” started playing a tricky zone game. We had some opportunities for open shots but we missed them. However, we scored 23 points in the end. We played against a good team with a good coach and experienced players who know what they do. Therefore, in the last minutes they managed to come back into game. When you play against such team, you always know they are capable of “come back”. But we fought and we won this match.

-The second half started with a zone defense, which you have already told about.  Was this a possible reason for more successful first half?

-I think, players started thinking too much in attack; there was too much open space for shots, drives, cuts without ball, so players start thinking too much and that stopped us. However before the quarter ended we managed to improve our game and gave gave up this zone. I guess, the players got tired a bit, so I limited playing minutes for some of them. This would be an exact reason if we lost this match. But we won. And I am happy that we won.

-“Joventut” caught us up twice, and we twice hit so needed three-pointers. It was Issuf Sanon and Gian Clavell in the third quarter. How do you like the psychological resilience demonstrated by your players?

-When you start thinking too much in attack, you lose your confidence. Some players don’t have a consistent shots or do not dare to throw open shots. I am happy that Issuf took this responsibility and hit.

-My favourite moment in this game is when there were so much emotions when Issuf hit with his left hand.

-Sometimes it can be done. He is a good player. However, as I constantly say, he has to be stable and consistent.
