Comment by the head coach of BC “Prometey” Ronen Ginzburg after the victory over BC “Cluj-Napoca”.

-At first, the atmosphere in Cluj is unbelievable on the standings. I was at the EuroBasket here; it also was very pleasant. But today, my respect to fans. We played against a good team with a good coach. We started the match well. However later, we made a lot of mistakes in defense. At the end, we demonstrated our character, were inferior, but then came back to game. So it is a good win for us.

-Coach, “Prometey” and “Cluj” are two teams that played in the Champions league last season, this season – in the EuroCup. What are your thoughts about this move? About both “Cluj” and “Prometey”.

-I think, this move is in the right direction. The level of the Champions league is rising up, but the EuroCup is still EuroCup. There are more matches in the EuroCup. That was the reason why we decided to play here. I guess, “Cluj” has the same motivation. It gives the opportunity to engage good players. I am happy we made this decision. Both we and “Cluj” have demonstrated that we are ready to play on the EuroCup. Unfortunately, “Cluj” made some mistakes.

-“Prometey” is sitting in first place in the group for quite a long time. What are team’s goals? To obtain the champions title?

-If you asked me at the beginning of the season, I would say that the EuroCupo has a good play-off format as at that time we just wanted to be in the play-off. But now, we lead the group. And you understand that during one game anything may happen. You remember last season – “Joventut” and “Partizan”. Among those 16 teams who reached the play-off any team can beat every other one. Despait our first place, we don’t have a big advantage as we don’t have our fans on the stands.

-But  in Cluj, there were Ukrainians on the stands…

-Yes, there were. I hope, Ukrainians will come to see our games in the play-off. But our fans, who are in Dnipro, are not able to support us because of this fu…ing putin. 

-How do you know a little bit of Romanian?

-My wife’s parents are from Romania. I know some Romanian words.
