Ronen Ginzburg: "I want to see the fighting from the firs minute until the last one"

Ронен Гінзбург: «Хочу бачити боротьбу з першої до останньої хвилини»

On October 12, at 19:00 a long awaited debut of BC “Prometey” in one of the most prestigious Europe tournaments will be held. On the eve of the game, press-service of BC “Prometey” conversed with the head coach of our team Ronen Ginzburg.

-Mr. Ginzburg, on October 12, “Prometey” starts playing in the EuroCup. Is the team ready for the start? What can you say about the condition of our players?

-Of course, we are not ready for 100%, like all the teams are not completely ready. However, that’s an ordinary thing for the EuroCup, as it is a long tournament. We have to improve from game to game. I can say, our physical condition is OK, but it’s not a 100%. But, for sure, we will be ready to play.

-Our opponent “Lietkabelis” has won in all three matches of the Lithuanian league, and right now they are playing with “Zalgiris” (following the results, the team from Kaunas has won 74:66-author). What can you say about our first rival in the EuroCup?

-First of all, this is the team with great traditions, particularly with experience in the EuroCup and the Champions League. Lithuanian basketball, in all times, is very good. Right now, “Lietkabelis” is the first-second team in the league. Last season they finished second or third. It’s a good strong opponent and, of course, we respect them.

-What would you like to see from your players, first of all in this game?

-First of all, I want to see a fighting from the first minute until the last minute. I want the players to follow the plan for the game. We have a lot of new players, who didn’t play this kind of games. We have to adjust our new players for the first game at this level. It’s not easy. But we will adjust them for victory.

-Please, tell us, what tasks do you set for the team in the EuroCup?

-You know, EuroCup is a competition, where, if you don’t finish the regular championship in the last two positions in the league, you still have a chance even to finish first. Now the task is to win as much as we can; and come to April, when there will be five-six-seven teams. And then, in play-off, everything can happen. In one game you can beat any team or you can lose to any team.
