"Prometey-2-DDTU" and MBC "Mariupol", rivals in the final paired tour of the first stage of the High League championship, long before the face-to-face confrontation secured a place in the quartet of the strongest teams of the 1st group. This also meant that the third and fourth matches of the rivals in the season series will be credited to the next stage of the championship. From the point of view of further tournament prospects, Dmytro Markov's team, despite its leadership in the group, was one victory behind the rival in the summary table of both groups, so today it had an obvious motivation to get it. The Red and Whites coped with this task, but at the same time made it difficult for themselves in the starting quarter.
In the first five minutes, according to the guard of our team Ihor Klimov, in the literal sense of the word, our youth could not cope with anything. This segment of the game was lost 2:15. The hosts even did not benefit from a minute break, taken by Dmitry Markov. Even before the first break, "Prometheus-2-DDTU" tried to correct the situation by throwing from the perimeter, but all of them were unsuccessful. Only the ninth attempt (Pavlo Horobchenko) was successful, which was already in the second quarter, and when Maxim Bezyma hit from behind the arc, the lag of the "red and whites" was reduced to 10 points (16:26).
It was felt that the guys improved their game, and befor a long break the team was just behind "-4" for "Prometey-2-DDTU". The "red and whites" continued to develop their success. In the 23rd minute, it was Bezyma, who led his team ahead for the first time in the match - 34:32, then it was Igor Klimov's turn. 13 points (!) by our guard allowed to set the handicap of the hosts on the "10+" mark, and when Vladislav Orzul hit from afar, it was already a dozen points in favor of Dmitry Markov's wards.
The Azovs tried to "come back to the game" in the first two minutes of the final quarter: Nikita Bibikov's shot from the perimeter reduced their gap to 6 points, but the "red and whites" quickly regained their dominance. In the last minutes, Bohdan Bryniuk was simply unrestrained in opponent’s "paint". Our center managed to make a double-double (19 points + 10 rebounds), and Ihor Klimov also scored 19 points.
"Prometey-2-DDTU" managed to get ahead in the season series and can make a score of 3:1 in their favor tomorrow, when the teams will return to the court of "Slobozhansky" at 15:00.
