DJ Stephens:"We came out to win this match"

Ді Джей Стефенс: "Ми виходили на майданчик виграти цей матч"

Comment by the player of BC “Prometey” DJ Stephens after the win over BC “Kalev/Cramo”:

-DJ, please your comment about the game against BC “Kalev/Cramo”.

-Tough, close game for us. We knew they were going to come out playing hard, playing tough. We have already played with them in Estonia and we lost that game. That was the only game we lost in the Latvian-Estonian league. So, we knew, we wanted to come out, we want to win this game. We went up 20 points, I think, or so. We were playing well, playing good. And, I think, we started relaxing a little and allowed them to come back into the game. We made this game more interesting. But we still were able to come away with the win.

-You scored five three-pointers. Are you satisfied with your game?

-I feel like I could have done it a little better, but of course, it’s a good thing when I’m making shots, I think. We are all making shots, because from time to time we have our ups and downs. But I feel like we are a better team, when I am able to make shots and help the team in that way.

-You had an injury. How do you feel now?

-I am still dealing with it. I still have the bruised ribs on my left side. Day to day, I have to take some inflammatory pills, painkillers and stuff like that because I am still in pain. But I get paid to play basketball, we had to win these games, so I have to fight through it.

-“Prometey” has 17 wins in a row and 6 wins in a row in the EuroCup. Are you satisfied with this result? You haven’t been losing for two months.

-It’s a pretty good accomplishment but we cannot be satisfied with it because there is still a lot of basketball left to be played. Of course, we want to try to finish the regular season in the EuroCup in first place. So, we have to keep winning games to secure that, and also in the Latvian-Estonian league you want to try to win as many games as we can so we can finish first in that and then try to win the championship here.

-“Prometey” will play the next game against “Cedevita Olimpija” in Kaunas. What can you say about the next game?

-It’s going to be a big game for us because we beat them. Then, we have to beat them at their gym, so we are going to come in ready. I think, they might have got two new players. It might have switched some things up because I’ve seen they won couple of games. So, we knew it’s going to be a tough game but we have to come in and play our game. We have to get stops on defense and get out our transitional offense and just play our style of basketball.  We should be able to come to work to win.
