Tomorrow, on October 4, Prometey, for the second time in its history, will take place in the second ranked continental club tournament. At “Arena Riga” of Latvian capital, “titans” will play against “Hamburg”, the club from Germany.

The opponents first met five months ago at the EuroCup playoffs first stage and back in time, Prometey outpaced its rival – 87:79. Since then, the rosters of both teams have changed significantly. This particularly applies to German club. In tomorrow’s match, only two basketball players, who opposed to Prometey in April, might play for Hamburg. These are 28-year-old forward Lukas Meisner and 33-year-old center Jonas Wohlfarth-Bottermann.

The 2023/24 season started on September 29 for Hamburg. In the starting match of German championship, Prometey’s opponent outpaced on the road Ludwigsburg (87:79), which “titans” crossed paths with two years ago in the Champions League. In that match, American guard Mark Hughes scored 23 points. He was supported with an excellent performans by Aleksander Dzieva and William Christmas – 18 points. Herewith, Christmas had 7 successful field attempts out of 9 – the respect worthy result.

However, right before the trip to Riga, Hamburg suffered a sensitive home defeat from Wurzburg – 58:88. Therefore, German team arrived in the capital of Latvia with depressed spirit. However, there is no doubt Hamburg will try to start in the BKT EuroCup on a high. For sure, Prometey is also determined to please its numerous fans in both Ukraine and Latvia. The team felt their warm support all through the last season and believe it will remain in the 2023/2024 season too!
